Wonderopolis  is a fun website created by the National Center for Family Literacy. This website offers the “wonder of the day” for elementary age children. The website posts a wonder question each day – Why do giraffe’s have long necks? Where do worms go in the winter? or Why do some years leap ahead?

Each post has

  • an interesting video such as the one above about the woodchuck
  • several paragraphs of simple text related to the question
  • learning activities that can be completed in class or at home
  • key vocabulary
  • “Still Wondering” section with resources for further information
  • children can also add their own comments and respond to other comments

Check out this terrific website with your students and I am sure they will ask you,

“What do you wonder about?”
